StoneCastle was formed to address the capital needs of small and medium sized banks and financial institutions. Our strategy is to invest in the assets and liabilities of smaller, often privately held firms that lack direct access to the mainstream capital markets. By providing capital to these underserved financial institutions, we provide a critical service for local communities while generating attractive risk-adjusted returns for our investors. Since the inception of StoneCastle, we have invested in over 200 small and medium sized banks, thrifts, and other financial institutions.

Strategic Partner

In October 2007, Charlesbank Capital Partners acquired a minority interest in StoneCastle Partners and has invested additional capital to fund future growth of the company’s asset management business. Charlesbank is a middle market-focused private equity firm that has invested over $1.5 billion in 49 companies since 1991. Charlesbank traces its roots to managing an investment portfolio solely for Harvard University.
